Pattern Project
For this project, I wanted to create a metallic grill sort of background. One like you might see on a car. I thought the metal plate with scratched-out text would be a pretty neat touch, as well. First, I created the pattern for the background in a 2-inch by 2-inch square document. I knocked out circles in the upper-left and bottom-right sections using the grid for a guide. The Snap-To-Grid function was helpful here. I used brushes and additional layer to achieve a dirty, rusted look on the metallic green background layer. Oh, and the layer below the green layer should be filled in with black, assuming that's the look that you're trying to achieve. I then added the scratched metal plate in the center, and used Bevel & Emboss effects for the raised plate look. I also added a drop shadow to make the plate look more 3-dimensional. I did the same sort of thing for the corner screws on the plate. I took an eraser and removed a thin line from the center to make it look like it would fit a flathead screwdriver. Once the plate and screws were complete, I used the DK Mothman font for the text, and applied an inner shadow, inner bevel, and satin effects. That was pretty much it!
