Texture Project

I started with an image of myself. I placed it on a layer above a dirty, gritty, textured sort of image. I duplicated the gritty layer, converted it to a black and white image, and changed the mode to Color Burn. I converted the image of myself to black and white, then played with the Hue/Saturation tools until I reached a result that I liked. Also, the image of myself was set on the Multiply blend mode. After this, I went to the Channels tab, and selected my Red channel. I proceeded to copy this channel by clicking and dragging the Red channel to the Create New Channel icon. At this point, I went back and adjusted the Levels sliders to my desired result. A little more shadow and a little more highlight. I went to my Layers panel, then clicked the Select menu and the Load Selection option under this. I set the Channel Pop-up Menu to my Red Copy Channel, and clicked OK. With this area selected, I copied the layer by pressing Ctrl+J, then brought it above the background layers. I changed the blend mode to Screen and dropped the opacity a bit for a lightened sort of effect. I then added a text layer with my name, added a drop shadow, brought the opacity to 36%, set the blend mode to Overlay, and then I was finished!
